Since they aren't the same sex (apple and orange) we should expect some differences in how they grow and develop. Obviously if they were the same sex (apple and apple) there would be differences too, but we would be more likely to compare them.Wednesday, June 15, 2011
Boys vs. Girls
I have been told by several reliable sources that boys mature at a slower rate than girls. Having one of each the same age, I have seen first hand that this statement is true. Although Tanner was the first born, by 23 minutes, he has been second to accomplish most of the infant milestones.

Tanner was first to roll from tummy to back (by minutes) and I think that his roll was due to his large head leading the way. He followed his sister in rolling back to tummy, sitting up, and pulling to stand. He doesn't crawl yet, but is very close (he had a few attempts last night). Tanner is a more coordinated walker than Abby who gets around on her tippy-toes. He has great control of the walker that we were given, moving it forward and backward with speed and accuracy. Abby is still only able to make it go in reverse. He recently mastered "SO BIG", waving hello or good-bye, and clapping, all of which Abby has been doing for months. He has NO teeth and Abby has two, which have only come through in the past week.
Since they aren't the same sex (apple and orange) we should expect some differences in how they grow and develop. Obviously if they were the same sex (apple and apple) there would be differences too, but we would be more likely to compare them.
Matt and I have been blessed with two healthy, beautiful children. This past year has been filled with many firsts for our family and we look forward to many more. We are so lucky because we get to celebrate each milestone twice, and we don't really care who is first!
