Twin Towers

Abigail (and Tanner) have recently transitioned from the "KNOCK IT DOWN" stage to the "BUILD IT UP" stage of their development. Once Abigail began crawling, she would literally crawl across the living room to knock down any tower (blocks or boxes...she didn't discriminate) that had been built. During this "Godspilla" phase I noticed that instead of simply hitting the tower in the middle Abigail would often reach for the highest block or box and take it down from there. She is very methodical in her destruction...I like that.

There were nights when Matt would build several small towers of blocks around the living room and Abigail would crawl from one to the other to knock them over while Matt rebuilt the fallen ones. Many times Matt would be unable to finish building a tower before Abby would crawl over and knock it down.

Watch out Papa, I am coming to knock over your tower!

Last week Matt and I began showing Abigail and Tanner how to BUILD with the blocks. Each time they would place a block on top of another we would cheer and clap our hands. Yesterday I witnessed them actually building on their own and quickly retrieved my video camera to document this momentous occasion.

I love how Abigail always starts from scratch each time her tower falls over even if a few blocks remain standing, she knocks them all down and starts fresh. Notice Tanner in the background (around 1:00 in the video) as he puts one block on top of another, puts his hands in the air, and applauds his accomplishment!
