Brusha-Brusha-Brusha
I bought two RaZ-a-Dazzle Toothbrushes from diapers.com just before Abigail got her first tooth. We have been using the same two brushes for just over six months now and I think they are GREAT! I love that it is completely covered in silicone and has a guard to prevent them from sticking it too far into their mouth. I usually give it to them with a little toothpaste on it and they brush their teeth while I change their diaper before each nap and at bedtime. I don't see it available on diapers.com any more but they have one exactly like it by Green Sprouts.
I HATE the fingertip brushes because A) neither Tanner nor Abigail like MY fingers in their mouth and B) it is just one more thing that I have to do myself. Why should they have someone else brush their teeth when they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves? Unfortunately when you buy the infant/toddler toothpaste you get one of those stupid fingertip toothbrushes so I have about six of them floating around my home.
We have used a few different brands of infant/toddler toothpaste. I am not using different ones on purpose; the grocery stores and drugstores around here all seem to carry different brands. We started out with the Gerber Grins and Giggles Toddler Tooth and Gum Cleanser. Since we keep one toothbrush upstairs and one downstairs I bought a second toothpaste, Baby Orajel Tooth and Gum Cleanser, so we didn't have to share. When the Grins and Giggles toothpaste ran out I replaced it with Earth's Best Strawberry & Banana Toothpaste. Of the three brands I like the Orajel the least because it looks like the gel you use to decorate a birthday cake (except it is clear). The other two are a little thicker which makes them easier to apply to the brush without too much coming out. I just bought some Orajel Toddler Training Toothpaste for when the next tube runs out.
