A Little Off the Top

I am amazed at how quickly Tanner and Abigail's hair has grown over the past sixteen months. When they were born, Abigail had a covering of dark brown hair (more like turf) and Tanner was completely bald (like my father).

Summer 2010

Tanner's hair began to grow in during the fall, just in time to cover his head for the cold winter months. Once it started, it grew at a rapid rate!

Summer 2011

Matt and I had an ongoing discussion (disagreement) all summer long about cutting Tanner's hair. Matt felt that his hair was getting too long around his ears and in the back. Although I never told Matt that I agreed with him about it being too long around the ears I didn't want to have it cut. I felt that getting it cut was like cutting away part of his babyhood and like most mothers I want my children to stay babies for as long as possible.

On August 19, I took Tanner and Abigail to Red Robin's Beauty Salon in Appleton, Maine (where Matt gets his hair cut). The salon is attached to the home of Doreen and Al Robbins. Since Doreen watches her granddaughter often, she has a play yard set up in the salon which gave me a place to put one Twinkie while the other was getting their hair cut. Doreen was AMAZING! She worked her magic scissors over both children's heads and never once nicked them or made them cry.

You couldn't even tell that Abigail had her hair cut when she was done, but I swear it added at least a year to Tanner's face. My little boy looked so grown up with his Buster Brown bangs and neat hairline around his ears...Doreen even combed it to the side just like Daddy.
