Tanner and Abigail have loved yogurt from the first time they tasted it when they were about 9 months old. In the beginning they ate Stonyfield YoBaby yogurt because it was made with whole milk which is recommended for babies before they are a year old. My favorite was blueberry because it produced "blueberry burps".
I started feeding the twins Yoplait yogurt a few weeks ago when Abigail was on an antibiotic for her ear infection. Our doctor recommended feeding her (and by extension him) yogurt that has live active cultures in it so that Abigail wouldn't have yeast problems during her antibiotic treatment. Apparently the Gerber Yogurt Blends* that I had been feeding them doesn't have ANY acidophilus in it, so I switched to Yoplait and have not looked back.
The Yoplait yogurt comes in a variety of flavors and some have little bits of fruit in them....which I like, but the twins do not. As I feed them the yogurt they spit the little fruit pieces out after swallowing the yogurt that surrounded it. I can't figure out why they won't eat little bits of peach in their yogurt but they will eat an entire fruit cup of peaches? For a while I was throwing the spit out bits in the trash, but today I got an idea.
As I fed them their Mixed Berry Yoplait yogurt I put the berries they spit out in their bowl of oatmeal that was cooling on the counter. Once they finished the yogurt and stirred the berries into the oatmeal and....VOILA...they ate it berries and all! Mommy 1 - Twinkies 0!
* I was skeptical about this yogurt from the beginning since it doesn't need to be refrigerated...what is up with that?
