Swiss Miss

In 2002, my mom and dad were host parents to Marianne Birchler from Einsendeln, Switzerland. During her year in Caribou, Marianne and I became very close. Even though I was living in Damariscotta at the time, we spent lots of time talking on the phone and hanging out when she and my parents came to visit. Since her year as an exchange student, Marianne has returned to visit with our family five times. Last summer, she stayed with me to visit and help care for Tanner and Abigail who were only two months old. At that time they were breastfeeding every three hours, unable to hold their heads up, and sleeping A LOT.

She is here again this summer for two and a half weeks! Now Tanner and Abigail are fourteen months old...they are crawling, eating solid food, and on the verge of walking.

Marianne is one of Abigail's godparents, but has a special bond with both of the Twinkies! She she has become such a special part of our family and we love having her visit. I enjoy every moment with...Princess Patchwork...the Swiss Miss...MY Marianne!
