HUT 2-3-4

Since they had so much fun crawling through the cardboard box tunnel we made for them in Caribou, my parents bought Tanner and Abigail a set of Play Huts and tunnels for Christmas. At first I thought to myself, "Great, where are we going to put these?" Although we have a fairly large house it is quickly filling up with lots of toys and toddler gear, if you think I am kidding read my Space Invaders post. I knew that Tanner and Abigail were going to LOVE playing with these but the thought of having them out all the time taking up space in the living room and/or kitchen was too much for me to think about during the holidays so I tucked the box away for a few weeks.

One yucky day in January I discovered the Play Hut box in the laundry room. We were unable to play outside, the kids were getting a little crazy, and nap time was still a few hours away. I thought, "What the hell...let's bust out the huts." I opened the box and found a slender red tote with three huts and three tunnels...all brightly colored and COLLAPSIBLE! As I unfolded a hut and two tunnels, Tanner and Abigail circled me shouting with excitement. I couldn't put them together fast enough! They crawled in and out of the hut and tunnels for hours, laughing and having a great time. When they went down for their nap I folded the sections up and put them back in the tote...simple as that.

We don't get them out all the time and when we do they are only out for a few hours. Sometimes I unfold a hut for each Twinkie and turn it into a space just for them with a blanket, pillow, stuffed animal and some books. Other times I set up two huts joined by a tunnel or just tunnels connected end to end. With the pieces in the set you can set it up in a myriad of ways and simply fold them up and store them when you begin to feel claustrophobic.

The Play Hut company makes many different sets of play structures which are sold in many stores (Target, Walmart, JCPenney, KMart, Toys R Us, and Big Lots) and online (amazon.com, diapers.com, yoyo.com). I am pretty sure that my mom bought our set at Mardens or Renys.
