First of all they are WASHABLE so that means that the markings will wash of (most) surfaces with warm water and a sponge. The stray marks Abigail made on the floor during the coloring episode pictured above easily wiped away with a wet paper towel. I keep some of these crayons and paper in my purse for emergencies, such as keeping them occupied (and quiet) during church. They mostly scribble on the weekly bulletin but sometimes they get excited and color on the pew which I can easily wipe off with a baby wipe when mass is over. Last weekend we went to a funeral and Tanner accidentally made a blue crayon streak on Matt's khaki pants which came out in the wash today, no pre-treating necessary.
The triangular shape makes it impossible for the crayons to roll away. This is a great feature, one that I am surprised no one had thought of when I was their age. When you have two artists working in close quarters with the same media things are bound to get away, but these crayons stay put so I am not constantly chasing the yellow crayon across the kitchen floor or getting on the floor to retrieve the purple crayon from under the pew in church.
Grammy and Grandpa also gave Tanner and Abigail a set of Crayola Tadoodles which are washable crayon buddies. They are shaped for a child's first palm grip. Neither Tanner or Abigail really like using the Tadoodles. I think by the time they got them they may have already progressed past the palm grip. Today Abigail hold the crayon with a proper pencil grip! We never taught her how to do it; perhaps she learned from seeing us do it. I had third graders that hadn't even mastered that skill!
