Now that the Twinkies are a year and a half old they have out grown most of their infant toys. These days they spend their time walking from room to room, climbing in and out of their chairs, and emptying the contents of their toy box throughout the house. Recently they have been given some very special toys to play with...ones that Matt and I used to play with when we were their age. Our parents didn't keep all of our toys but they did keep a few which they now enjoy watching their grandchildren play with.
Watching Tanner and Abigail play with these special toys has really brought back some memories. Seeing them play happily with toys that brought me joy as a child is a wonderful thing.

Wooden Seal and Kangaroo (Matt)
Matt and his sister Heidi received a handmade wooden toy from their Grandpa Kopishke every Christmas for many years. As I watch Tanner and Abigail play I can't help but think how great it is that these toys are around for them to play with. They never had the chance to meet their Great Grandpa Kopishke but they are having fun playing with the special toys he made for their Daddy.

Keeping a few cherished toys from your childhood is a great idea, even if you don't plan to have children of your own. You may have friends with children that come to visit or a niece or nephew that you want to share your special toys with. Watching a child play with a toy that you played with as a child gives you a feeling that can't be explained...it's priceless.

I agree that's it's fun to see kids play with toys you enjoyed as a kid. I have one doll and play bassinet saved from my childhood that we keep in the basement, and every time my niece Natalie is here, she always wants that to play with first!
